Every player is guaranteed at least 2 scales of any rarity regardless of whether they defeated the king salmonid or not. Every 1/8 damage done to the king salmonid the players will earn an additional scale. If the players are able to splat the king salmonid, they will earn 9 scales plus an extra one every ten seconds remaining after splatting the king salmonid. You can get a maximum of 13 scales when there are 31 or more seconds left on the clock. The rarity of the scales you receive is random, but the chances of silver and gold scales increase as the hazard level increases.
