Salmon Days is Issaquah’s signature festival and has been a beloved community tradition for over 50 years. The first Salmon Days was held in October 1970 and was started by the Issaquah Chamber of Commerce as a way to showcase Issaquah’s history and culture.
For centuries, salmon have been an integral part of life in Issaquah. Every year, salmon make the incredible journey from the ocean back up Issaquah Creek to spawn where they were hatched. Parade – Salmon Days kicks off on Saturday morning with a lively parade along Front Street that draws crowds from all over Get your spot early to see the elaborate floats and local groups marching in the parade

Arts & Crafts Booths – Over 225 artisans and crafters set up booths along Front Street to sell their unique, handmade creations. It’s the perfect place to find that one-of-a-kind gift or treat yourself to something special.

Getting to Salmon Days
With 30,000-50,000 attendees, Salmon Days draws big crowds. Planning your transportation and parking ahead of time makes for a smooth, stress-free festival experience.
Downtown Issaquah closes to traffic during the festival. Parking fills up quickly, so arrive early. Consider parking at Issaquah High School or taking the shuttle from the Issaquah Transit Center. The shuttle runs all day Saturday and Sunday for just $2.75 roundtrip.
Leashed dogs are allowed at Salmon Days, so bring along your furry friend to join in the fun! Strollers and wheelchairs can navigate the paved streets and sidewalks of downtown Issaquah without issues.
October brings fall weather to the Pacific Northwest. Average highs are in the mid 60s, with lows around 50 degrees. There is always a chance of rain, so check the forecast and dress in layers.

When to see salmon in Issaquah?
Adult salmon arrive at the hatchery in late August for the fall spawning season. Chinook arrive first and spawn through mid-October. Coho arrive late Sept-through Nov. Visitors can view natural salmon spawning in Issaquah Creek from the bridge and decks and salmon jumping up the steps of the fish ladder.
How many people attend Issaquah salmon days?
During the 50th anniversary of Salmon Days in 2014, the event attracted 150,000 visitors over its two-day celebration. A committee still runs the event with spawnsor participation. Recent additions include a Field of Fun carnival and a DockDog canine swimming event.
What are the best ways to get around during salmon days?
King County Metro will operate a shuttle, with the route going between the Issaquah Transit Center (1050 17th Ave NW) and the south side of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery (125 W Sunset Way, Issaquah, WA 98027). Shuttles are planned to run every 15-20 minutes between the hours of 9am – 6:30pm.
